Ashley St. Clair welcomed a child with Elon Musk.

The Tesla CEO and the author first connected on X, and grew closer during a work assignment in San Francisco shortly after, she told the New York Post in February 2025. On Feb. 14, St. Clair announced on X that she and Musk share a son, who goes by R.S.C., though it wasn't until April that his first name was confirmed to be Romulus.

"Five months ago, I welcomed a new baby into the world. Elon Musk is the father," the announcement read. "I have not previously disclosed this to protect our child's privacy and safety, but in recent days it has become clear that tabloid media intends to do so, regardless of the harm it will cause."

She added, "I intend to allow our child to grow in a normal and safe environment."

St. Clair is now suing for sole custody of their son. Musk has not responded to PEOPLE's request for comment.

The SpaceX CEO is also a father to 13 other children with different partners, including Shivon Zilis, Grimes and Justine Wilson. His estranged daughter, Vivian Wilson, shared in a TikTok post the day after St. Clair made her announcement that this was the second time she learned of a half-sibling through social media.

St. Clair told the New York Post that she and her child had met Musk's mother, Maye Musk, and a few of his other children, though none of their mothers.

So who is Ashley St. Clair? Here's everything to know about the fourth woman who welcomed a child with Elon Musk.

She is an author and conservative influencer

 

St. Clair has been an outspoken supporter and influencer of conservative ideologies. In September 2023, she shared her opinions on declining birth rates on Fox News.

The author is best known for her children's book, Elephants Are Not Birds, which was a collaboration with BRAVE Books. The publishing house "partner[s] with people of moral integrity, to teach complex Christian and Conservative values," per its website.

"Follow Kevin as he learns that even though he can sing, he is not a bird, even if Culture insists that he is," the book's synopsis reads.

Musk and St. Clair first connected through direct messages on X

 

Following the news of their welcoming a child, St. Clair opened up about her relationship with Musk to the New York Post, revealing that they first met on X, which the tech CEO acquired in April 2022.

“Musk was very funny. He was smart. He was very down to earth," she said. "It started with X interactions and he slid into my DM’s. I think it was a meme."

St. Clair knew who he was — thanks to a friend who frequently showed her videos of his SpaceX rocket launches — but she "didn't particularly have much interest" in him at the time.

However, things changed when she flew to San Francisco to interview Musk for Babylon Bee, a conservative satirical website that she was working for at the time, at his new company's headquarters.

“After the interview, I got a text from him saying, ‘Feel like going to Providence [Rhode Island] tonight?’ ” St. Clair said, claiming that their romance sparked during that trip.

She has two children, including one she welcomed with Musk in September 2024

  

St. Clair is a mother of two. She has a son from a previous relationship and welcomed her son Romulus with Musk in September 2024.

In the wake of her announcement, a source close to St. Clair told PEOPLE that the mother was taking time away from the spotlight to focus on her two kids.

“It’s been a difficult time but Ashley is focusing on caring for her children, which are and always have been her priority,” the source said. “She adores them and is committed to them.”

On Feb. 21, St. Clair filed a petition for sole custody of Romulus, then known as R.S.C., claiming that Musk was not present at their son's birth and "has met him only three times and has had no involvement in his care and upbringing."

Two months later, the Wall Street Journal reported that R.S.C. is named Romulus and that a Labcorp test showed Musk's "Probability of Paternity" to be 99.9999%, which was confirmed to PEOPLE by a spokesperson for St. Clair.

Musk didn't publicly address St. Clair's claims until March 2025

 

At first, Musk didn't publicly address St. Clair's claims. In a since-deleted reply to the tech CEO on X one day after her announcement, St. Clair wrote that she and her team "have been trying to communicate for the past several days and you have not responded."

Her comment was directed at the billionaire's post, which read, "Whoa," in response to an account that had shared a screenshot of an alleged 2020 X post where St. Clair joked about wanting to get "Elon Musk's attention for a marriage proposal."

St. Clair also alleged that the other X account had shared underage photos of her, writing to Musk, "When are you going to reply to us instead of publicly responding to smears from an individual who just posted photos of me in underwear at 15 years old?"

One day after her announcement, St. Clair's representative Brian Glicklich shared a statement on X in which he wrote that she and Musk "have been privately working towards the creation of an agreement about raising their child for some time."

"We are waiting for Elon to publicly acknowledge his parental role with Ashley, to end unwarranted speculation, and Ashley trusts that Elon intends to finish their agreement quickly, in the best interests of the wellbeing and security of the child they share," he wrote.

On March 31, Musk shared a post on X claiming that he'd given St. Clair $2.5 million in support despite not yet having evidence of his paternity.

"I don’t know if the child is mine or not, but am not against finding out. No court order is needed," he wrote at the time. "Despite not knowing for sure, I have given Ashley $2.5M and am sending her $500k/year."
